Call your doctor or vet if:

  • A tick is attached and you are unable to remove the entire tick.
  • A red rash appears that resembles a bullseye. This rash can expand over the course of days. You might not see the tick, but the bullseye rash is indicative of the Lyme infection.

Lyme Symptoms and Complications in Humans:

Early Symptoms:

  • Fever
  • Headache

  • Skin rash
  • Swollen lymph glands

Untreated Complications:

  • Arthritis

Dogs infected with Lyme disease may not show any signs for 2-5 months.

Early Infection:

  • Fever
  • Loss of appetite
  • Joint swelling
  • Decreased activity

Late Disease:

  • Lameness
  • Damage to the kidneys
  • Heat disease
  • Brain and/or spinal cord injury
